The Algarve is the most southern province of Portugal and is the most South Westerly tip of Europe. The Algarve is bordered by Spain, so it is a short drive to the ancient city of Seville in Spain and to Portugal's capital Lisbon. Given its small area, touring and sightseeing is very attractive and there are many fine places to visit.
The Algarve has become a very popular destination for visitors, the weather and top class golf courses being the main attractions. Food and wine are institutions here. Seafood is abundant and varied and there are many unusual dishes to try.
The Algarve is 150 kilometres of beautiful coastline, washed clean every day by the Atlantic, which has earned this stunning region a reputation as one of the world's finest coastlines. The Algarve has also a wide variety of beaches, all graced with thick grained golden sand and all very clean with nice beach restaurants.
